Today the EC 2010 ic was officially started after the morning controlled practice-runs. The ceremony parade with all the sixteen countries (originally nineteen) was grand (view part of it in a report here) and after the speech there were group-shots you can find in the gallery along with some other pictures from the event!

The first practice days are completed, with varied results. Yesterday (Monday) was brutally wet, and only a few drivers dared to test the track in wet conditions. In the afternoon the rain finally stopped and, despite the traction loss, some drivers set really fast times. However, we had the radio & TV station "Bandit Rock" on the venue, collecting some material to their morning show called "Rivstart" where I will be present to talk about R/C racing and what it really is.

Tuesday had much better weather conditions, even though it was strong winds during the whole day. All drivers had good chances to test the track and improve their set-up and adjust the driving to find the fastest laps. 

Tomorrow the last drivers will arrive and the race organization as well; EFRA Section Chairman mr. Franky Noens, EFRA Referee mr. Chris Hardesty and the National Referee mr. Dallas Mathiesen. Weather reports show dry and sunny with less wind forces than today. I really hope everybody enjoys their stay at the track, even though we had a wet start with the minor chaos that followed when the skies opened up.

A few days ago, we recieved a Scoreboard, bought by the Swedish federation. The Scoreboard is compatible and desiged for the RCM-Timing & Scoring system and distributed by Jaqueline Aebi (EFRA Treasurer). It's a LED type 1 (shows laps completed of each driver and the total racetime) scoreboard, constructed of four sections and controlled by a computer with RS232-communication.

I'm amazed how simple it was to set up; just plug in the cables, install the software and set the correct Server IP-address in the RCM-Board software, so it communicates with RCM-Ultimate. The software also handles a countdown timer and the system local time (shown at the picture). That makes it simple to have one official clock at the races, connected to the timing & scoring system. This solves some possible confusion about time if there is difference between individual clocks.

The fence around the track is being replaced to the new one, who our sponsor ScanCord provided us to the event. The compressed air- and cleaning station is being rebuilt and fully equipped. More photos coming up later.
